Condition: Aquatinte en coloris d'époque. Légère décoloration dans le ciel, 6 trous d'épingle au pourtour de la gravure. Bel exemplaire dans un coloris très frais. - Hand-coloured aquatint. 6 tiny pin holes around the engraved area. Slight discoloration in the sky. In very good condition.

Description

Très rare vue du port de Cadix en magnifique coloris d'époque, gravée par Renouard et publiée à Paris par Fatout et Avice. Figure de nombreux drapeaux flottant sur la ville ainsi que de nombreux navires en mer, à l'avant-plan. Signature gravée en bas à gauche dans la planche "Renouard, en bas à droite sous la planche "Renouard sc.".
Trois autre vues, dans le même style, ont été publiées par Fatout et Avice : Jérusalem, Venise et Liverpool.
- Very rare view of Cadiz and its seafront drawn and engraved by Renouard, published in Paris by Fatout et Avice, Quai Malaquais, 9. Beautifully hand coloured at the time of the publication. Figures many flags fluttering in the city and many ships and vessels in the sea. The plate bears in the left lower part, the engraved signature of Renouard and below the right lower part "Renouard sc.".
Three other views in the same style were published by Fatout et Avice : Jerusalem, Venice and Liverpool.

The Librairie was founded in 1958 by Louis Loeb-Larocque. Originally, he arrived in France from Germany shortly after World War II. He started an antiquarian map and book shop in Paris, specializing in early maps, atlases, travel books, and prints. The shop was located at Rue Le Peletier until 1996, and was frequently visited by collectors and fellow dealers from all parts of the world.

At present, the office is located at 31 rue de Tolbiac in Paris in the lively 13th district, a 5-minute walk from the Bibliothéque Nationale de France (Metro Line 14)

Visitors are welcome to our shop by appointment, Monday through Friday.

We provide auction estimates based on photographs sent via the Internet. These estimates are not for valuation purposes and are subject to revision upon inspection of the object. It is impossible to provide verbal estimates by telephone, nor can we respond to requests sent without a photo.

There is no easy answer to this question. Some books or maps have, without question, appreciated considerably in value over the years.
Others have remained steadily desirable without seeing a significant rise in price, and still others can be purchased for little money but give great personal satisfaction.
