Description
A humorous lithograph from the famous French caricaturist J-J. Grandeville. He drew scenes in which individuals with the bodies of men and faces of animals are made to play a human comedy.
These drawings are remarkable for the extraordinary skill with which human characteristics are represented in animal facial features.
In this scene we see an emaciated patient sitting in a chair, with feet on a stool, hand held by his servant, being addressed by his doctor, who says "There is plenty [of blood]. We will bleed you tomorrow, while waiting continue the diet."
