A woodcut illustration from the Le Courrier français an illustrated weekly founded and edited by Jules Roques. It appeared from 1884 to 1914.The title reads: "The celebration of 23 April at the Opera." The caption below the illustration reads: "The ceremony of the 'imaginary patient' by the artists of the Comedie-Francais." Most of the players are seen either standing or sitting holding large clysters or syringes.
