A large coloured lithograph by John Vickery (1906-1983), he was an Australian artist. He worked in the fields of painting, illustration and advertising. He is the only Australian artist to have been a part of the New York School.
Vickery was born in Bunyip, Victoria in Australia in 1906, and relocated to New York in 1936.
This lithograph depicts a handsome, fully bearded Ceylonese Post Office Employee standing outside a rural Post Office, with an empty mail sack slung over his left shoulder. Man serves behind a counter, while people approach. Surrounded by verdant tropical vegetation.
Signed in lower right corner.
