Condition: Carte repliée montée sur toile. Large texte descriptif à gauche et en partie supérieure gauche. Quelques annotations complémentaires manuscrites. Cachet rouge circulaire (illisible) près du titre. Quelques galeries de vers affectant la carte et traces de pliures.

Description

Carte monumentale quadrillée de la France figurant la navigation intérieure de l'Empire français. La Corse est figurée dans un carton de façon inhabituelle avec le nord orienté à l'est (allongée). "Revue et augmentée de toute la Navigation décrétée par S. M. l'Empereur jusqu'en l'an 1811 par V. Dubrena".

Titre complet : "Tableau géographique de la navigation intérieure du territoire de l'Empire français, offrant le cours soit de ses fleuves, rivières et ruisseaux, soit de ses canaux tant exécutés que projettés dans ses -------- départemens". (Le nombre de départements n'a pas été complété).

Le texte explicatif à gauche donne "L'état actuel et général de la navigation intérieure de la France", le texte en haut à gauche indique les "Lieux où sont situés les établissements d'artillerie, An 1814 (date manuscrite)". Ce dernier comporte différentes explications complémentaires manuscrites : "Direction d'Art.rie de Cherbourg. Départemens de l'Orne, du Calvados et Arrondissement de Cherbourg, de Valognes, de Coutances et St. Lô du Départemens de la Manche. / Les côtes de cette Direction s'étendent depuis la limite de l'Arrondissement d'Avranches jusqu'à la Seine". Une autre explication à l'encre se réfère aux tracés et aux toponymes manuscrits ajoutés sur la carte : "On a tiré un trait rouge des chefs-lieux de Directions aux places qui dépendent de chacune d'elles ; et un trait Bleu des mêmes lieux aux Etablissemens qui se trouvent dans chaque Direction".
Les Directions d'artillerie numérotées de 1 à 29 (Corse) sont inscrites à l'encre sur la carte.
La carte a été éditée à plusieurs reprises et a traversé les différents régimes politiques avec un titre modifié en fonction : en 1795 il s'agit du "territoire républicain français", en 1811 de l'Empire français et en 1824 du royaume de France en 86 départemens.

The Librairie was founded in 1958 by Louis Loeb-Larocque. Originally, he arrived in France from Germany shortly after World War II. He started an antiquarian map and book shop in Paris, specializing in early maps, atlases, travel books, and prints. The shop was located at Rue Le Peletier until 1996, and was frequently visited by collectors and fellow dealers from all parts of the world.
At present, the office is located at 31 rue de Tolbiac in Paris in the lively 13th district, a 5-minute walk from the Bibliothéque Nationale de France (Metro Line 14).
We welcome visitors to our shop by appointment, Monday through Friday.

Measurements are given in centimeters; height is given first, excluding margins. Size is mentioned of the plate mark; height is given first. When there is no plate mark, we take the sizes of the illustration. In some instances, we additionally mention the size of the sheet in the condition field.

The date and place mentioned in our catalog is the date when the item was made and published. Where the publishing date is approximate, then c. (circa) is used.

Parcels are shipped by DHL or registered mail and must be signed for. Insurance is included.
- We charge a flat shipping fee of 15 euros for shipments within France for shipments up to one kg.
- For parcels shipped within Europe, a flat 25,00 euros is charged.
-For shipments outside of Europe, the postal fee is 25.00 euros for the USA and Asia
- 45.00 euros for Africa and Australia for parcels up to one kg. Heavier parcels are shipped at a nominal postal fee.
