Illustrated with an engraved allegorical frontispiece, 326 engraved plates (of 328), many being double and folding, one with old handcoloring (105), captions in German and French.
Herrliberger (1697-1777), a master engraver who studied with Johann Daniel Herz in Augsburg and Bernard Picart in Amsterdam, worked in the tradition of Matthaeus Merian. The volumes include splendid views of Zurich, Basel, Baden, Bern, Luzern, Solothurn... Country houses and scenes in various cantons, several famous castles, and charming depictions of mountain pathways.
