This is a rare map of Persia with modern-day Uzbekistan to the north. The region is labeled as "Grande Tartarie" and "Pays des Usbeks." Bocara (Bukhara) and Samarcand (Samarkand) are mentioned, among other important cities along the ancient Silk Road.

The map was prepared by J.B.Nolin and published by Monhare for his Atlas Général a l'usage des colleges et maisons d'education..
Louis Joseph Mondhare published several smaller atlases and re-published the wall maps of Nolin. Later, Pierre Jean joined the company.
It is a rare map by two of the foremost publishers in France.
