Description

Printed poster promoting the "Boule de Mars" (March Ball) produced and sold by Renault in Nancy and Paris. Ornated with the royal coat of arms of France. Prices are mentioned at bottom : "Le prix est de six Livres, Trois Livres, Quarante-huit Sols, vingt quatre Sols, & Douze Sols."

The "Boules de Mars" or "Boules d'acier vulnéraires" (steel balls) were a medicine usually prepared with potassium tartrate (mentioned as tartar in the recipes) and iron tartrate.
