Condition: Hand coloured folding map, pasted on linen and kept in original blind stamped cover, with printed title label. Linen on verso some staining, hardly on recto. Very good condition for a separately issued map.

Description

Rare coloured linen backed map showing Russian troop positions and Odessa Batteries. On the inside of the cover a list of "Wyld's list of recent publications : seat of war, Turkey, the Baltic, Russia, Austria and Prussia".
James Wyld (the younger) was geographer to the Queen and H.R.H. Prince Albert. Joined his father's business in 1830. His address was from 1835 until 1860: Charing Cross East next door to the Post Office and 457 Strand. As Queen Victoria married Albert in 1840 his imprint changed to Geographer of the Queen and H.R.H. Prince Albert.
