Description

Map of the department of La Mayenne published in "Atlas Général de France", divided by departments by Donnet and Monin, geographers engineers, with Arms and Views of Chapuy, engraved on copper and on steel by Artus, Malo, Bénard, Traversier. Paris, at M.B. Dusillon [1841].
Each card is decorated with a view of the capital of the department and a statistical text relating to the administration, agriculture, industry, trade as well as monuments and famous people.

Alexis Donnet: Geographer attached to the Cadastre, he is at the origin of an abundant cartographic work often republished. To his maps of France and around Paris are added maps of Italy and the Iberian Peninsula, and maps of new railway lines.

He started an antiquarian map and book shop in Paris, specializing in early maps, atlases, travel books, and prints. The shop was located at Rue Le Peletier until 1996, and was frequently visited by collectors and fellow dealers from all parts of the world.
At present, the office is located at 31 rue de Tolbiac in Paris in the lively 13th district, a 5-minute walk from the Bibliothéque Nationale de France (Metro Line 14).
We welcome visitors to our shop by appointment, Monday through Friday.
